The 2006 URA Architectural Heritage Award
The recognition that belongs to Draycott 8 itself is architectural, not commercial. The restoration of the 1920s Black-and-White colonial bungalow at No. 4 Draycott Drive — now the development's clubhouse — was recognised under the URA Architectural Heritage Awards in 2006, Category A, the category covering conservation and restoration of gazetted historic buildings.
What the award recognises
What the award recognises is restraint. The bungalow was conserved and adapted into the development rather than cleared for it, retaining the two-storey colonial form, the double-volume colonnade and the timber detailing while the surrounding site was built out as a modern condominium. Very few Singapore residential addresses carry a conserved building of that provenance on the same plot.
The building's documented history
The building's documented history adds to the recognition rather than replacing it: it was formerly home to a senior Republic of Singapore Air Force officer, and was later associated with the Alliance Française de Singapour before the restoration.
Agency credentials, recorded separately
