Heritage - The History Of This Land

Restored 1920s Black-and-White, at Draycott 8's heart.

Long before it was the address's clubhouse, No. 4 Draycott Drive had already lived several lives. Its story is quietly extraordinary — and it sets the tone for everything that surrounds it.

Draycott 8 Clubhouse Restoration: The Story of No. 4 Draycott Drive

Discover the documented conservation story behind the 1920s black-and-white bungalow at No. 4 Draycott Drive and its transformation into Draycott 8’s heritage clubhouse.

From the 2006 architectural-heritage documentation

Draycott 8 facilities overview

The defining amenity at Draycott 8 is not the pool or the gym — it is the clubhouse at No. 4 Draycott Drive, a restored 1920s Black-and-White colonial bungalow absorbed into the development rather than demolished for it. The restoration received recognition under the URA Architectural Heritage Awards in 2006, Category A, for conservation and restoration work.

The heritage clubhouse at No. 4 Draycott Drive

The building's history is documented rather than decorative. The two-storey bungalow was formerly home to a senior Republic of Singapore Air Force officer, and was later associated with the Alliance Française de Singapour before restoration and integration into the development. Very few residential addresses in Singapore combine full modern condominium facilities with a conserved building of that provenance on the same plot.

Documented 2006 clubhouse programming (historical)

Historical record — as documented at the 2006 restoration: the clubhouse was programmed as a series of private rooms rather than one open function hall, including a library, a private theatre, a billiards room, a mahjong and card room, a biometric wine room and cellar, a cigar room, a rejuvenation room and an onsen room, alongside a concierge service. Room uses at a development of this age are set by the management corporation and can be repurposed, so treat that list as the documented 2006 programming rather than a guarantee of present-day use.

Verified current facilities, pool and grounds

Current facilities, as at August 2026: the 50m lap pool, the gym, the clubhouse building and the landscaped grounds. Which of the individual private rooms are in service today, and on what booking terms, is confirmed against current management information at the point of enquiry rather than published here. The low-rise conservation housing on the surrounding streets keeps the grounds unusually green and shielded for an address this close to Orchard Road.

Seeing the clubhouse before a viewing

The chaptered video tour on the highlights page walks through the clubhouse rooms in sequence as filmed, which is the fastest way to judge whether the building matches how you actually entertain before arranging a physical viewing and confirming current availability of each room.
